Patch 1.0.10
Patch 1.0.10 saves up to 64 dropped ground items between sessions. When the limit is reached, the game prioritizes weapons, tools, quest items, and creatures. This is a world-item limit rather than a promise that every discarded object will persist forever. The save-system guide explains what the change covers.
Weapons and tools that were cooked can now be cleaned by dipping them in water. The patch also slightly nerfed the Anglerfish and fixed Beer causing bleeding, Tuna or Albatross respawn locks, local-time display, rich-text chat abuse, explosion maximum velocity, and simultaneous player/seagull pickup.
Roulette no longer ticks forever at high values, leaving during roulette no longer breaks the next session, and the developer attempted to stop the ball clipping through the wheel. See the roulette guide for the achievement flow and the separate Reel of Fortune guide for cosmetic skins.
The connection window is longer in an effort to reduce instant disconnects, and the game version is now printed in player.log. The patch also attempts to stop equipped inventory items spawning far away and items falling through the world after loading or joining. The developer's “hopefully” wording means these are attempted fixes, not a guarantee that every case is gone.
Patch 1.0.9
Patch 1.0.9 added Easy and Hard settings to the main and in-game menus. Easy gives every creature 25% less health and 50% less damage. Hard gives every creature 25% more health and 25% more damage; Normal keeps the previous behavior.
The same patch added a Steam connection check to the main menu and attempted another corrupted-save fix. If the Steam Relay label becomes red during initialization, Dazed Games directs players to the #common-bugs channel in the official Community Discord. Use the difficulty settings guide or black-screen joining guide for focused instructions.
Patch 1.0.8 and 1.0.6
Patch 1.0.8 corrected PlayStation controller glyph display and connected the fire sizzling sound to the effects-volume slider. Patch 1.0.6 validates a save before loading, stops writing the server or local save during an application crash, saves through Save, Main Menu, and Quit, and continues to autosave every minute.
Patch 1.0.5 and 1.0.4
Patch 1.0.5 added private invite-only lobbies, separate invert-X and invert-Y camera options, and a 30 FPS lock option. It fixed locked-island travel, invisible 4K slot-machine skins, the all-drip achievement trigger, and joining players immediately ending the game.
Patch 1.0.4 raised the official lobby limit to eight players, reduced Pufferfish and Whale difficulty, and clarified the final-island route. It also attempted joining and startup-screen fixes and corrected boss timers, revive text, special characters in server names, and the final-boss bare-hands achievement.
No dated roadmap yet
Dazed Games announced that How to Fish reached one million players in two days and said more content and bug fixes are planned. The announcement did not name the next feature, season, version, or release date, so there is no confirmed public roadmap to list.
Restart Steam if an announced update has not appeared. Dazed Games repeats that instruction in the official patch posts.
